Magazines : Our Place - Geelong Region Magazine 2011
APPRECIATION of Geelong's central location -- close to Melbourne and a short drive from the Surf Coast -- is becoming widespread as the trend towards regional living continues. According to Jim Cross, director of Ray White Real Estate's Geelong office, 15-20 per cent of buyers and investors inspecting property in the region are from Melbourne and other capital cities. "Two recent grand final wins, the UCI championships and many other sporting events have really showcased what the region has to offer its permanent residents and given it some great positive exposure,' ' Jim says. ere are definite trends when out-of-town purchasers seek homes and investment properties in and around the city. The promise of a better lifestyle and affordable housing is luring Melbourne property buyers into our market. SAMANTHA LEAHY reports "They can have a cosmopolitan lifestyle for half the price and put the leftover money into a retirement fund."
